Responsible for bus, train and ferry services across Southeast Queensland, TransLink coordinates and runs one of the world’s largest public transport systems.
From the BMTMC, TransLink operates its extensive and growing network of busways, which offers congestion-free, fast and reliable bus services in and out of Brisbane’s CBD.
With more than 25 kilometres of dedicated bus roadway and more than 20 stations, the busways serve over 70 million customers each year.
To move such a large number of people in and out of the CBD, staff at Translink’s Busway Operations Centre (BOC) work around the clock to ensure the safety and security of passengers and bus drivers alike.
Our responsibilities include proactive monitoring of the busways and stations with the help of more than 700 CCTV cameras, real-time management of safety and security incidents, and 24/7 field response.
We also monitor emergency phones on all busway platforms and operate an automated system of motion detection cameras that alert staff in case of breakdowns in the busway tunnels.
It all adds up to a state-of-the-art bus system that rivals motorways for carriage capacity and railways for reliability.
